Week 3 Power Rankings: Chaos In The Middle

Welcome to Week 3 Power Rankings. We’ve got big movers. We’ve got big losers. We’ve got:

Top 10

1. Niners – Despite the closer-than-anticipated game with the Rams, San Francisco remains king of this domain. Up next: The New York Football Giants on TNF. Shouldn’t be close but you know those Thursday games are crazy.

2. Dolphins – I would’ve liked to see Miami put a little more pressure on New England but a win is a win. They’ll host the Broncos this weekend, and I’ve got much more faith in Tua than Russ right now.

3. Cowboys – It’s all fun and games to beat up on Zach Wilson, but what will Dallas do when they face a real team? We won’t find out this week, as the Cowboys continue their cupcake schedule with a contest in the desert against the lowly Cardinals.

4. Eagles – Philly almost blew the Thursday game to Minnesota but ultimately prevailed, allowing them to hang around at 4. They visit Tampa on Monday in what could be an interesting matchup with the Buccaneers, who are off to a hot start.

5. Bills – The Bills are back! I mean it’s just one game against the Raiders but that’s all I need. They travel to our nation’s capitol this weekend to try to triumph over the undefeated Commanders. Week 2 Josh Allen better make an appearance, because if Week 1 Josh comes out, things may go south.

6. Chiefs – Will the Chiefs offense figure it out? Both offenses were lackluster in their contest with the Jags last weekend, and they can’t keep that up forever and expect to repeat as champions. Luckily, they’ll have some nice practice this weekend against the bottom of the barrel Bears.

7. Ravens – Right now, the Ravens are looking like the best team in the AFC North despite their poor injury luck. They square off against Indy this weekend, who may be without starting QB Anthony Richardson.

8. Seahawks – Big jump up for the Seahawks here. There’s been some perennial Top 10 teams struggling early, allowing a way in for Seattle. I don’t see them struggling against the uninspiring Panthers this week.

9. Lions – The Lions get to move up despite the loss due to a general regression by teams in this area of the rankings. And hey, they still played pretty well in the shootout with Seattle. They could be in for another such shootout against Atlanta on Sunday.

10. Bengals – The Bengals are hanging on by name recognition alone here. Joe Burrow aggravating his calf again isn’t good news for this team. Even if he’s good to go on Monday, they’ll have a tough one against the surging Rams

Notable Moves

The Chargers have fallen out of the Top 10, and they’re gonna have to learn how to close out a a game if they want to get back. Keeping it in LA, the Rams are up big and could even crack the Top 10 next week if they can knock off the Bengals.

I’m completely out on the Jets unless they can do something else at QB. Zach Wilson is not him. Another team I’m out on is the Browns — the defense is very good but without Nick Chubb the offense has no life. Maybe the Kareem Hunt signing with pay off, but I imagine he’ll be rusty for a couple weeks.

The Commanders are trending up and have a chance to solidify their standing with a good performance against Buffalo this weekend, even if they end up on the losing side. And lastly, the Bears are now your worst NFL team, with a tough challenge against the Chiefs this weekend. Chicago, welcome to the basement.

That’s gonna do it for this week’s power rankings, tune in for the Week 3 picks, tomorrow.
