Once I took in the full scope of what had transpired on Sunday by the end of the late slate, I realized I had made an egregious error. Only one loss through 12 games, hey, that’s pretty good. But really, it was too good, or maybe it just wasn’t good enough. I can handle a .500 day, a .750 is always nice, but I quickly realized I was in a precarious position. If I drop another game or two, it’s not great but I can manage. But if I win out (and boy did I), I’ll have to live with the one miss being because I picked the Jaguars to win a football game in 2024. Unbelievable, but let me walk you through my logic here: I knew that the Jags/Bears affair in London could get kinda weird. I knew that the Jags had a lot of experience playing across the pond. Jacksonville really needed to get some momentum going after picking up their first win in Week 5. After all, this team was supposed to be competing for the AFC South title. Yeah, they got off to a slow start, and the Bills game was embarrassing, but the rest of their games were close. The other 3 losses were by a combined total of 12. This is a decent team, they just had some bad breaks. But now look at ‘em. Just beat the Colts, they know London like the back of their hand, I think I gotta roll with them…
But one thing I failed to consider…was the other team. The Bears outperformed the Jags in all aspects. I wasn’t paying close enough attention to know that the Bears left on Tuesday, while the Jaguars couldn’t (didn’t?) leave until later in the week. That’s a rookie ass mistake. Not to mention, the Bears’ vibes are way higher. I’m thinking that maybe I saw some of the travel information on Friday or Saturday, so sure, I could’ve amended the pick, but I just like to lock it in on Thursday.
I’ve come this close to a perfect week maybe only once or twice ever before this. But this one cuts especially deep since I should’ve seen it coming a mile (kilometer, maybe?) away. Now, I’m not complaining, I needed this week. I’ve been dog water since Week 1 really.

Power Rankings out tomorrow…don’t be late.
