Power Rankings Week 7: I Don’t Know Who’s Good

At this point I wouldn’t be shocked if every team finished either 9-8, 8-9, or 8-8-1. Well, not every team of course. The Jets, Browns, Titans, and Raiders all exist. Miami and Cincinnati aren’t exactly world beaters either. The Saints are bad but surprisingly competitive. But I think December is going to be extremely competitive when it comes to playoff spots. There’s at least 10 AFC teams that should be competing for a spot come that time of year, and I can’t really count out anyone in the NFC minus the Saints. At least at this juncture. Enough rambling, here’s the rankings, a third of the way through the season:

Top 10

That’s right, folks. The Top 10 is back. At least for this week. No guarantees of future Top 10 segments, so enjoy it while you’ve got it.

  1. Buccaneers – Despite not having Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, or Bucky Irving, Baker Mayfield and the Bucs continue to get it done. Gritty team. Up next: Monday Night against an equally gritty Lions team.
  2. Colts – Considering I projected this team to win 3 games, this is obviously a surprise to me. Possibly my worst take of all time. Anyway, they’re good. They’re consistent. Up next: Indiana Jones and Co. go looking for treasure in sunny LA as they take on the Bolts.
  3. Lions – The Lions had been rolling for 4 weeks straight until they ran into the Chiefs. Still a good team. Up next: The aforementioned brawl on Monday night as they host the Bucs.
  4. Packers – I think I’ve got the Packers way too high here given that their last three games were: Loss to the Browns (lol), tie against Dallas (lol), and barely scraping by against the Bengals led by Joe Flacco who had only been in town for a couple of days (lol). Something is not quite right with this team. Up next: The cheese boys head to the desert for a date with the Cardinals.
  5. Bills – Boy, these guys really need a true WR1. Could we see a trade to acquire such an individual over the next couple weeks? I hear Tee Higgins looks good in blue. Up next: A much needed bye week to reset followed by a Week 8 contest against the frisky Panthers.
  6. Eagles – The Bills of the NFC. Dropping two straight always feels bad. Especially when one is to the team that was projected to finish last in the division. Up next: Philly looks to rebound against a Vikings team with an impressive defense.
  7. Broncos – Their win in London against the Jets wasn’t exactly pretty, but for an international game, getting out with a win is huge. Up next: The hard-headed Giants head to Mile High in what should be a great game.
  8. Chargers – The Chargers barely scraped by the Dolphins last week, and they’re gonna need to figure something out here fast to correct the slide they’ve been on. Up next: The Colts are rolling into town hot hot hot.
  9. Rams – I would’ve liked to see some more points against a pretty awful Ravens defense. Anywho, I’m sure they’ll be fine. Up next: London. Jaguars. Please stop, Roger Goodell.
  10. Patriots – Unfortunately it may be time to admit that this team is good. Up next: Mike Vrabel revenge game against the Titans.
